Company Overview

We are a mission-driven human services organization dedicated to supporting individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD) to live meaningful, self-directed lives in their communities.

Our team in Glendale and surrounding cities is energetic, collaborative, and united by a shared commitment to dignity, respect, and person-centered care.

The Opportunity

As a Direct Support Professional, you will be a mentor, teacher, guide, and advocate for adults with I/DD, helping them build skills, independence, and confidence in everyday life.

This is a hands-on role where you will see the direct impact of your work every day, with opportunities to grow your skills, take on more responsibility, and build a long-term career in human services.

What You'll Do

  • Support individuals with I/DD in daily living activities, including personal care, routines, and basic life skills, while promoting as much independence as possible.
  • Accompany and assist clients with community access, including appointments, errands, social events, and recreational activities.
  • Coordinate and provide transportation to medical appointments and other scheduled activities, ensuring clients are safe, prepared, and supported.
  • Encourage positive peer interactions and social engagement, helping clients build friendships, communication skills, and confidence.
  • Communicate clearly with supervisors, families, and team members, documenting services as required and contributing to a positive, team-oriented work environment.

What Success Looks Like

  • Within the first few months, you build trusting, respectful relationships with the individuals you support and understand their goals, preferences, and support needs.
  • You consistently arrive on time, follow support plans, and maintain high standards of safety, professionalism, and confidentiality.
  • Clients demonstrate progress toward greater independence, community participation, and social engagement as a result of your coaching and support.
  • You collaborate effectively with your team, communicate clearly about client needs and changes, and actively participate in training and feedback to improve your practice.

What We're Looking For

  • Good judgment and problem-solving skills, especially in day-to-day situations that require calm, thoughtful responses.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work well as part of a collaborative, team-oriented environment.
  • A genuine passion for helping others, with the willingness to learn, take feedback, and grow within the role.
  • At least 21 years of age, with reliable transportation, a valid CA driver's license, and the ability to pass a background check; experience in human services or American Sign Language skills are a plus.
